SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
- Digital or Camera Ready: Finished advertising material must be provided either as artwork ready to be scanned or in an acceptable digital format (CD-ROM or Flash drive). We accept e-mailed files, but reserve the right to request disc-saved images in the event that the file size is too large.
- Images: Include all high-resolution images in EPS or TIFF format in CMYK or grayscale at no less than 266 dpi (300 dpi preferred).
- Preferred file format: PDFs created with Adobe Acrobat Distiller (Mac or PC) are easiest to use. DO NOT allow substitution of fonts when converting your PDF file. We require all fonts to be post-script.
- Acceptable formats: If not supplying a PDF, then send QuarkXPress, Adobe In-Design, or Microsoft Publisher (Mac or PC) files with all supporting fonts and images included. EPS, TIFF and JPEG files are also acceptable.
- Proof: If possible, please provide a color proof made from the actual file at 100% size.

ENDOWMENT REVENUES
Thanks to the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the Knight Center for Environmental Journalism, publisher of EJ Magazine, has a wonderful opportunity to create a sustainable funding pool. The foundation has issued a challenge grant to help the Knight Center build an $800,000 endowment by the year 2010. For every three dollars raised toward the endowment, the Knight Foundation will contribute an additional dollar — up to an amazing $200,000 in matching funds.
To help reach this goal, all advertising revenue from EJ Magazine will be applied to the endowment fund.
Earnings from the endowment will provide sustainable funding for:
• EJ Magazine and EJ Magazine Online
• Scholarships for students and professional journalists
• Training and education opportunities for professional and student journalists
• Development of online courses
• Outreach and research efforts to improve the quality of environmental journalism
Payments to the Knight Center for advertisements are not considered charitable contributions for tax purposes. Your charitable gift to the endowment fund, in addition to your advertising purchase, is warmly welcomed. Ask your advertising representative for more information about contributing a gift.
